Since we posted this review of Snip-Its, the business has closed.  We recommend, instead, to visit our review of Hollylocks, another family-friendly salon/hair cuts location for children in Reno near the Costco on Plumb Lane.

Grapefruit PinwheelYour child’s first haircut is one of those moments you will always remember and why not make it a fun experience for the whole family. Snip-its is a place conveniently located at the Summit Mall in South Reno, that specializes in children’s haircuts.

We have been to Snip-its twice now; one occasion was for our son’s first haircut. We have seen the same stylist for our son both times and our daughter has seen two different stylists. All three stylists we sat with were incredibly friendly and helpful to make sure we all were comfortable. They always offer our daughter some glitter and a hair clip and there is always a dinosaur or car for our son to play with while the haircut is in progress. As the children are walking out after their haircut, the front desk always gives them a little card which they get to deposit into a machine at the front desk which then makes a bunch of noise and movement. It then produces a little , which thrills the kids. Our daughter’s first haircut took place in another salon and she was an absolute mess, she screamed and cried the entire time. Each time we have gone to Snip-its she was beyond excited to go and actually likes getting her hair cut now (and for a curly-haired little girl, that is a good thing).

The other great thing about Snip-its, we have never waited longer than 10 minutes to be seated with a stylist getting to work on our kids’ hair. I am sure there are times of the year that are a little busier, but if you give them a quick call before you head out to the mall, they will tell you how long their wait is at that time. Snip-its is definitely worth checking out!
