A Halloween trick-or-treat adventure, ghosts, ghouls, zombies, witches, vampires, clowns. Kids in costumes laughing from door to door. Candy, spooky tales, corn mazes, pumpkin carving and much more are in store for northern Nevada and the Sierras this Halloween.

For those that don’t know, there are a great many resources available on the internet to learn about fun activities to do in the area surrounding the Halloween holiday. As a place to start, you can learn about the history of Halloween, also known as All Hallow’s Eve; and not just rely on Wikipedia.

Pumpkin Patches and More.org has a great listing of things to do for fun leading up to Halloween, including pumpkin carving, corn mazes, ways to educate yourself about the holiday, and a listing of local pumpkin patches.

Bartley Ranch Regional Park corn maze

If you’re raised locally in Reno, Nevada, you will know about the Bartley Ranch corn maze. This is historically one of the better corn mazes in the area. There isn’t much out there on the internet to impart how cool it is, but my experience was never a poor one while visiting this location in the fall.

Pumpkin patches in the Reno, Nevada area:

• Andelin Family Farm in Spanish Springs;
• Ferrari Farms Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch on Mill Street in Reno, one block east of Rock Blvd, hosts a corn maze, bounce house, farm animals, hay rides, a train ride, and pumpkins and squash for sale;
• Toll House Pumpkin Patch near the Super Wal Mart in south Reno hosts “lots of activities for the kids, including the Child’s Garden bounce house, a petting zoo, pony rides, hay fort, maze, haunted house, and lots more”;
• Here is another listing of locations in the region, including many outside of the Reno/Sparks area that were active in 2011 and should also be active this year as well.
