After an unfortunate accident where my daughter had a knot in her hair and tried to remove it on her own… with scissors, my wife and I decided to try out another location in Reno that specializes in haircuts for kids. We chose Hollylocks in the same shopping location as Costco off Plumb Lane. Christine and I used to live down the street from the owners of Hollylocks when we were renting (prior to November 2012). We are glad we decided to try out Hollylocks.

The staff were incredibly friendly and the person who ended up *ahem* fixing my daughter’s hair was the actual owner of the establishment.

Hollylocks is not a franchise, but a wholly owned establishment with a local owner. You could really feel it in the atmosphere.

As a parent, sitting on the couches at Hollylocks was one of the most comfortable times I have ever had waiting for anyone in my family to do anything. They were extremely comfy. I could have sat there all day.

The wait wasn’t that long to be seen, even as a walk-in, and my daughter felt like a princess. They did a great job hiding her accident as well. Great work!

Your child’s first haircut is one of those moments you will always remember and why not make it a fun experience for the whole family. Snip-its is a place conveniently located at the Summit Mall in South Reno, Nevada that specializes in children’s haircuts.

We have been to Snip-its twice now; one occasion was for our son’s first haircut. We have seen the same stylist for our son both times and our daughter has seen two different stylists. All three stylists we sat with were incredibly friendly and helpful to make sure we all were comfortable. They always offer our daughter some glitter and a hair clip and there is always a dinosaur or car for our son to play with while the haircut is in progress. As the children are walking out after their haircut, the front desk always gives them a little card which they get to deposit into a machine at the front desk which then makes a bunch of noise and movement. It then produces a little toy, which thrills the kids. Our daughter’s first haircut took place in another salon and she was an absolute mess, she screamed and cried the entire time. Each time we have gone to Snip-its she was beyond excited to go and actually likes getting her hair cut now (and for a curly-haired little girl, that is a good thing).

The other great thing about Snip-its, we have never waited longer than 10 minutes to be seated with a stylist getting to work on our kids’ hair. I am sure there are times of the year that are a little busier, but if you give them a quick call before you head out to the mall, they will tell you how long their wait is at that time. Snip-its is definitely worth checking out!
